TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and DDW Communication hold Halal Fair 2017 at Plaza Semanggi shopping mall in Jakarta on June 9 to 18.
The event will also be used to by the MUI Jakarta to introduce halal-certified products.
Coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan, the event will feature food and various product expo.
Some events will enliven Halal Fair, including coloring competition for elementary school students, Qur'an memorization competition for elementary and junior high school students, donation to orphans, fast-breaking dinners and mass tarawih prayer, Islamic preaching, Muslim community gathering, talk show, cooking class with chef halal, Islamic multi-product, and halal food bazaar.
Moreover, the main event to be held is Halal Food & Multi Product Bazaar which will showcase products that have secured halal certification from LPPOM MUI Jakarta, Islamic finance (banking, insurance, etc) and Muslim fashion show.
Deden Edi Soetrisna, MUI Jakarta economic commission secretary, added that various halal food and cosmetic products will be shown in the event.
The event is expected to familiarize the public with halal products, as well as help develop both halal and not-yet-halal certified small, medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
