TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - President Joko Widodo is in Serpong, South Tangerang on Thursday, April 27, to lead the ground-breaking ceremony of a low-cost apartment building in the city. The apartments are provided for people with low income.
The apartment is called Loftvilles Serpong and located in Serpong City's Serua district in Ciputat. PT PP acts as the project's contractor.
Jokowi arrived at 9:00 am local time, accompanied by several ministers including Labor Minister Hanif Dhakiri, Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Banten Acting Governor Nata Irawan, and South Tangerang Mayor Airin Rachmi Diany.
Minister Hanif had said that the government plans to build 6,000 units of cheap apartments, which is part of the one million houses program for people with low income.
"We hope the construction to be completed in two years," Hanif said.
PT PP commissioner Andi Gani said that Loftvilles Serpong stands on an 8.2-hectares land. There are 11 towers to build, nine of which will house 6,000 subsidized units for laborers. The other two towers are non-subsidized, commercial units.
Each unit is 32 square meters in size, each with two bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, and a living room.
