TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Garuda Indonesia has been named as one of the world's top 10 airlines in 2017 according to travel site TripAdvisor. TripAdvisor held its Travelers' Choice Awards for Airlines, and the result was announced on Wednesday, April 12, 2017.

"We are proud to announce the inaugural Travelers' Choice Awards for airlines, to help travelers make the most well-informed air travel decisions based on the experiences of the TripAdvisor community," said Bryan Saltzburg, General Manager for TripAdvisor Flights

Emirates topped the list for both the first and economy class categories.

Singapore Airlines comes second, followed by Brazil's Azul's Airline, the US's JetBlue, and Air New Zealand.

Coming at number six is Korean Air, followed by Japan Airlines, Thai Smile, and Alaska Airlines. Garuda Indonesia is at number 10.

TripAdvisor determined the results using an algorithm that takes into account the quantity and quality of airline reviews and ratings submitted by users over a 12 month period.
