TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Manpower and Transmigration Ministry held a ministerial conference with Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) country members to discuss cooperation in the manpower sector.
“The meeting is aimed at, among others, addressing unemployment issues, particularly among young generation, as well as improving the quality of social security for workers,” Manpower and Transmigration Minister Muhammad Hanif Dhakiri said in Jakarta on Monday, April 10, 2017.
Attending the conference were Bangladeshi Manpower Minister MD Mujibul Haque, Azerbaijan Ambassador to Indonesia Tamerlan Garayev and Bangladeshi Ambassador to Indonesia Maj. Gen. Azmal Kabir.
The first Steering Committee meeting that was held in Baku, Azerbaijan, back in 2013 resulted in an executive program for the OIC cooperation in the fields of manpower and social security.
In this second Steering Committee meeting with the OIC, Hanif expects to find answers to challenges related to manpower. Indonesia has proposed to be a sponsoring country for the establishment of a research forum on Islamic concept and practices in the manpower sector. Therefore, the Ministry will hold a related workshop on April 12, 2017.
“I hope that OIC members will send researchers to actively participate in the workshop, exchange views and ideas related to the Islamic concept and practices in the manpower sector,” Minister Hanif added.
