TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian House of Representatives supports the increased level of partnership between Indonesia and France ever since both countries signed a strategic partnership back in July 2011. Bilateral relations between both countries have always improved.
“The House of Representatives welcomes a number of cooperation agreements that will be produced by both countries during the visit by the President of France to Indonesia this time,” Says Speaker of the House of Representatives, Setya Novanto, right after greeting the chairman of the bilateral cooperation group of the French-Indonesia Parliament, H.E. Mr. Jean Jacques Guillet on Wednesday, March 29, 2017.
He elaborated the bilateral economic trade value between both countries in 2016 that reached US$ 2.34 billion, which needs to be improved.
Setya explained France’s investment in Indonesia throughout 2016 reached US$ 109 million that is spread across 424 projects. “I hope the value will continue to improve following both nations’ positive relations,” he said.
In another note, Setya Novanto also asked the French Government to facilitate Indonesia’s industry in marketing a number of commodities in France that reaches US$ 972 million. He argues that it would considerably improve Indonesia’s export value in the market of electronic machinery, foot wear, rubber products, furniture, clothes and accessories, coffee and tea, and spices.
