TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi said the bonuses promised to Olympic medalists will be given on November 2.
"This is to answer the public's doubt on the issue; making it as if the Sports Minister is giving [the medalists] false hope," Imam said in Jakarta Wednesday, October 26.
The minister ensured there will be no bonus cut, as the tax is paid by his ministry.
Two Indonesian badminton gold medalists in Rio Olympic Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir, are entitled to Rp5 billion bonus each. Their trainer, Richard Mainaky, will get Rp2 billion.
Silver medalists, weightlifters Eko Yuli Irawan and Sri Wahyuni, will receive Rp2 billion each. Their trainers Dirdja Wihardja and Supeni will each be given Rp800 million.
Meanwhile, bronze medalist in the Paralympic games, weightlifters Ni Nengah Widiasih, will get a bonus of Rp1 billion. Her trainer Koni Ruswanto will be given a bonus of Rp400 million.
