TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo hoped that the Indonesian anthem, 'Indonesia Raya', will be sung in Brazil in this year's Olympic in Rio de Janeiro.
"From Indonesia, I’m hoping for 'Indonesia Raya' anthem to be sung in Rio de Janeiro. Best of luck [to our athletes]," President Jokowi said in front of the Indonesian contingents on Wednesday, June 22, 2016.
The President told Indonesian athletes who will compete in the world's most prestigious event to show to the world that Indonesia is a great nation.
"Show them that Indonesians can always respect fair play, maintain discipline and do not go overconfident because I believe that all Indonesians have the crucial values, though many have not shown that, yet," Jokowi said.
Jokowi hoped that the athletes' efforts can inspire people across the country to make more achievements and make Indonesia known on the international stage.
"Finally, I want to say good luck. I hope you can make Indonesia proud," Jokowi said.
