TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Communication and Informatics Minister Rudiantara said that his ministry will evaluate all online game applications in Indonesia. Rudiantara explained that online games must be evaluated to prevent the spreading of pornographic materials and gaming addiction problems among children.
Rudiantara said that his ministry will cooperate with other stakeholders to evaluate online game applications. "Before Eid al-Fitr, there will be a ministerial regulation [on online gaming] and discussions are underway," Rudiantara said during the 'Digital Literacy Seminar' on Saturday, June 4, 2016.
The regulation, Rudiantara explained, will be issued to allow parents to monitor online game applications used by their children. Rudiantara added that regulation will also classify games based on its users' age.
Rudiantara said that he will also cooperate with Indonesian game developers. In addition, Rudiantara said that the government plans to set a certain date as the national game day. "After that we will compete with international games by developing our own games," the minister said.
