
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has discussed the efforts to increase Indonesia’s palm oil export to Russia in a bilateral meeting with President Vladimir Putin.
“In trade, we ask Mr. President to provide an avenue for our palm oil export to Russia, and to increase its quantity,” Jokowi said Wednesday evening in the meeting in Bocharov Ruchey state residence in Sochi.
Indonesia’s total palm oil exports to Russia in 2015 reached 480 million barrels that has benefited Indonesia’s palm oil farmers.
The President also praises Indonesia’s bilateral relations with Russia which has been established since 60 years ago.
“Our long history since President Soekarno needs to be enhanced and I wish [our] economic, political and cultural relations could be developed further,” the President noted.
Meanwhile, President Putin has expressed his appreciation for the bilateral meeting with President Jokowi.
President Putin also said his country wishes to increase volumes of trade with Indonesia.
“I hope Indonesian delegates can enjoy Russian hospitality,” Putin added.
President Jokowi has held a bilateral meeting with President Putin in the official residence of the President of the Russian Federation in Bocharov Ruchey at 6:10 p.m. local time which ended at 9 p.m. local time.
