TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A number of organizations incorporated in the Coalition to Save the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) filed a report on ethics code violation against BPK Chairman Harry Azhar Azis following his involvement in the Panama Papers. The report was filed to the BPK’s Ethics Code Honorary Council.
Roy Salam, spokesman for the coalition and a representative from the Indonesia Budget Center visited BPK's office together with representatives from the Transparency International Indonesia, Indonesian Parliamentary Center, Indonesia Corruption Watch, and Media Link, all of which are members of the coalition.
Roy said that the report was made based on three suspicions, including Harry's overlapping position as the Chairman of BPK and CEO of Sheng Yue International Limited. "As the Chairman of BPK [Harry] must not occupy another position in another government institution or private companies," Roy said on Tuesday, April 26, 2016.
In addition, the coalition asserted that Harry had failed to comply with prevailing laws and regulations for not reporting his wealth to the Corruption Eradication Commission.
In response to the report, Ratih Dewi Puspita Purba, Chief of Inter-Institution Relationship of the BPK, and Sri Haryati Chief of BPK's Publication Sub-Division said that they will carry out follow up actions. "We will forward the report to BPK’s Ethics Code Honorary Council," Ratih said.
