Luhut Invites Social Media Activist, Discusses Panama Papers

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs invited a number of social media activists on Sunday evening, April 24, 2016. One of the invited activists was Imam Brotoseno, who said that Luhut had called him to discuss news about his involvement in the Panama Papers.
"Yes it is true, Pak Luhut simply explains the chronology of what Tempo had written," Iman said on Monday, April 25, 2016. In addition to Imam, the meeting was also attended by Ezki Suyanto, former Commissioner of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission, and economist Poltak Hotradero.
Imam added that Panama Papers was not the only issued discussed in the meeting. Imam said that Luhut also talked about the 1965 massacre symposium event.
"Pak Luhut said that [all of the news] had gave him a headache," Imam said, adding that Luhut is currently preparing for his rights of reply in response to the report released by Tempo.
Imam said that during the discussion, Luhut said that Tempo’s report was inappropriate. Luhut also explained how he managed to gain his wealth from 2004 to 2014, according to Imam.
[Pak Luhut] did not deny he has more wealth," Iman said. Luhut, according to Iman, explained that his increasing wealth was caused by the increasing price of coal, which is the commodity traded by his company.
