TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Trade Minister Thomas Lembong said that Indonesian coffee has major chances to make a hit in the international market. Thomas said that Indonesian coffee has better quality compared to Vietnamese coffee.
However, Thomas said that it would require intense promotion and marketing activities to increase Indonesian coffee export. "Currently, there are [startup] coffee companies. The government will attempt to [introduce] them to the world," Thomas said on Friday, April 8, 2016.
Thomas asserted that steps taken to promote Indonesian coffee in the international market still have many rooms for improvements.
Thomas also admitted that Indonesian coffee is not well-known in the international market. Therefore, Thomas said that the government will continue to attempt to increase coffee export.
"Indonesian coffee must be introduced to the world so that the international community can recognize Indonesia," Thomas said.
