TEMPO.CO, Manado-China Communication Construction Company (CCCC) claimed that Bitung Special Economic Zone (SEZ) will satisfy many parties.

China Communication Construction Company (CCCC) and a subsidiary of China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBT) have met with North Sulawesi Governor Olly Dondokambey to discuss the planned development of Bitung SEZ.

Project Manager of CRBT Wang Xiao Chen explained that given his company’s experience, construction of Bitung SEZ will satisfy many parties.

“To ease communication, CRBT has opened representative office here,” he said, in a press release as cited by the website of Community Relations of North Sulawesi, Tuesday, March 15, 2016.

Based on Government Regulation No.32/2014 on Bitung SEZ, SEZ will occupy an area of 534 hectares.

The government plans to devide it into three zones, namely industrial zone, logistics zone and export processing zone.

North Sulawesi Governor Olly Dondokambey has welcomed CCCC’s plan for Bitung Special Economic Zone.

Bitung SEZ will give significant effect for regional economic growth; therefore, the regional government will continue to monitor the continuity and development of special economic zone,” he said.

Bitung SEZ will be integrated with Bitung Port. The port has been prepared as international hub port through Presidential Regulation No. 2/2015 on Medium Term Development Plan of 2015-2019.

In addition, to ensure goods distribution road, regional government is building 39 kilometer-long Manado-Bitung toll road as supporting infrastructure.

However, SEZ development is hindered by land clearing issue.
