Joey Alexander Applauded for His Performance at the Grammys

TEMPO.CO, Los Angeles-Young Indonesian pianist Joey Alexander received huge applause when performing at the Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony held at Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles, the United States on Monday, February 15, 2016 local time. Audiences were giving standing applause after Joey performed Eddie Harris’ Freedom Jazz Dance compositions.
Praise keeps coming despite Joey did not win at the 2016 Grammy Awards nominations. The 12-year-old boy was beaten by John Scofield in Best Jazz Instrumental Album category, and Christian McBride who grabbed award in Best Improvised Jazz Solo category of the 2016 Grammy Awards.
Praises were also conveyed via Twitter. "@JackieLynam @lunemoth @orderinthesound crazy amazing 12 year old jazz pianist. Holy smokes!! #joeyalexander," wrote @anabanana_ account not long after Joey performed on stage.

Joey Alexander is the first Indonesian to be a nominee at the prestigious music awards. Moreover, My Favourite Things is Joey Alexander’s first album which was released on May 12, 2015. Joey’s achievements has made the Rolling Stones magazine selected him as a cover model of its Indonesia edition.
His name is also well known at international level. His album once topped the Billboard Jazz chart. He has also been interviewed by foreign media on several occasions, dubbed as the Indonesian Prodigy.
At the Grammy Awards which was held last night, Joey shared the stage with other talented world musicians include Adele, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Ellie Goulding, even Travis Barker.
