TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura I will be expanding Juanda International Airport and develop Terminal III, to turn it into an Integrated Airport Area.

“In it will contain business, trade and warehouse area,” CEO PT Angkasa Pura I Wimbo Sulistyo Hardjito said in Negara Grahadi Building on Tuesday, Jan 5.

Wimbo said that access from and to the airport will be using a railway.  Terminal 3 will also be expected to accomodate more than 75 million passengers.  “This is to control the overload in Juanda every year,” he said.

Besides building Terminal 3, PT Angkasa Pura I will also be adding two new runways.  “There are three phases of development,” said Wimbo.  First phase is the confirmation of the masterplan, land acquisition, reclamation for runway 2 and construction of runway 2.

Second phase is the development of Terminal 1, reclamation for runway 3, construction of runway 3, and accessibility from toll roads and terminal.  Third phase will be building an Ultimate Terminal and airport city supporting infrastructure.

East Java governnor Soekarwo expects the project to begin in Q3 2016, and have requested Angkasa Pura I to immediately resolve the spatial and area planning issue and land use permission concerning the expansion of Juanda Airport.
