Malang Airport Closed Due to Volcanic Ashes

    TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Abdurrahman Saleh Airport, Malang, was shut down at 9:30am Friday, December 11, since it was affected by volcanic ashes of Mount Tengger Caldera.

    “Malang Airport was closed at 9:30am today and estimated until 9:30am Saturday, December 12,” Chief of Public Communications Center of the Transportation Ministry, J.A. Barata, said in a press conference Friday, December 11.

    Barata said the condition at Mount Tengger Caldera is unexpected; it can experience a sudden change at anytime. Therefore, Barata advised people to use other transportation to avoid the worst possible situation.
