TEMPO.CO, Frankfurt-In the midst of organizing the Frankfurt Book Fair 2015, Indonesian poet Goenawan Mohamad launches his newest book ‘Faith Writing’ on Thursday, October 15.
A collection of Goenawan’s writings in the span of his 40 years of work, curated and translated by Jennifer Lindsay, an Australian translator who for many years translated ‘Catatan Pinggir’ or the edge notes, Goenawan’s regular column in Tempo magazine. Faith Writing is published by the Singapore University Press.
"It's an honor for me," Goenawan said in his speech. "When people see a big promotional picture of me on top of Singapore's booth, some thought I have dual citizenship," Goenawan joked.
The book was launched at the Singapore booth in hall 4 of the Frankfurt Book Fair (FBF), Germany, on Thursday afternoon at 4 pm local time. Goenawan is the chairman of the national Indonesian committee and a guest of honor of the FBF.
Singapore university press director, Peter Schoppert, said this book is one of the books with Indonesian authors published by his company. "Goenawan’s work is one of the most important in Asia. I've been working with Goenawan in the last 20 years," said Peter. The 348-page book will be distributed in Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore.
