TEMPO.CO, Bengkulu-Social Affairs Minister Khofifah Indar Parawansa said on Monday, October 12, that agate greatly contributes in lowering divorce rate and crimes in some regions.
“The presence of agate [trade] in several regions are able to reduce the number of divorce rate. This is good,” Khofifah said in Bengkulu on Monday, without elaborating her source of data and how the two facts establish causality.
She pointed out the benefits of agate that is felt by the people of Medan. The rising trend of agate has been able to reduce crimes in the region as it can creating public revenue.
Khofifah believes that agates has brought significant impact to respond to social issues in society. She instructed society to maintain and conserve natural resources in their region.
“From my experience in visiting various countries, I just realized that there are no country that is as beautiful and rich as Indonesia,” said Khofifah.
