Rupiah Surged to Rp 13,491 per US Dollar

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - This morning, Oct 9, rupiah currency in bank transactions increasing 396 point from the last position to be Rp 13,491 per-US Dollar.
The rising occurred after the government launched the third economic package, said Reza Priyambada, Research Head of NH Korindo Securities Indonesia. “The third economic package as well as monetary policy from Bank of Indonesia responded positively by the money market participants” he said.
Reza added that the price of petroleum which was in reinforcement trends in the past few days also added positive value toward rupiah and other currency in developing countries.
“Surely, we hope the reinforcement of rupiah will continue”, he said.
Research Head of Monex Investindo Futures Ariston Tjendra said that US dollar continued to weaken toward foreign currencies since the indeterminacy of federal fun rate in the US.
IMF’s action of cutting economic growth projection increased the anxiety of the Fed and made them postponed the rising of interest rate until next year, he added.
