TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Fadli Zon said that the house has reflected its performance on national legislation program, which has been deemed failed to achieve its target. “We are found lacking, but we have carried out the mandate,” he said, on Friday October 2.
Fadli Zon said that legislation is not solely the responsibility of the House. "We have to involve central and regional government elements,” he said.
Fadli added that the national legislation program is affected by political interest. "The penal code has been proposed since the 60s. It, however, was never completed due to various political issues," he said.
Currently, the House is brewing 37 drafts to be included in the program. "We have finalized 3 and we have discussed 12 others," he said.
