TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chief of Armed Forces Information Center, Major General Endang Sodik, said that the preparation for the 70th celebration of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) Day is entering the final preparation phase.
Armed Forces Day is annually celebrated on October 7 and this year the celebration will be held at Indah Kiat Beach, Cilegon, Banten. Previous at the National Palace, Armed Forces Chief General Gatot Nurmantyo say this year’s Armed Forces Day will feature air and sea combat which will involved Air Force and Navy personnels.
Army Chief of Staff General Mulyono say the Armed Forces Day celebration will be under the control of the Armed Forces Headquarter and will involve about 5,500 personnels.
“Specifically in Cilegon, we will be involved in the ceremony,” Muluono said on Wednesday, Sept 23.
The army, Mulyono said, will not be participating in the combat demonstration but will be involved in martial arts. The army will not be using its main weaponry system for the shooting demonstration, but will just be deploying its helicopter and participate in a fly pass.
“Hopefully, what we present can make the people understand what armed forces is about,” said Mulyono. The anniversary is a form armed forces’ accountability towards society.
Besides centered in Cilegon, Armed Forces Day will also be celebrated in each Regional Military Command throughout the country. “Each Regional Military Command has its organizer, and will hold a similar event like in Cilegon,” said Mulyono.
