TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Anti-Discrimination Movement has reported Governor of Yogyakarta Special Region and King of Ngayogyakarata, the Royal Highness Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, to President Joko Widodo. The NGO claimed that the Sultan has violated the state regulation on ground following the recent act of acquisition.
Head of the movement, Willie Sebastian, said that Sultan has attempted to use the colonial law (Rijksblad) No. 16/1918 on Sultanaat Ground and No. 18 on Pakualamanaat Ground. He added that Sultan plans to rule state ground in Yogyakarta.
Sultanaat and Pakualamanaat Ground refer to Rijskblad prior to independence. “That is separatism potential in Yogyakarta,” he said on Tuesday September 15. “We have sent the letter to president yesterday.”
The law, he added, should no longer apply in Indonesia, practically after the government issued Agrarian Law in 1960. Moreover, in 1984, DIY issued Regional Regulation No. 3 that affirms the Agrarian Law.
