Gemstone Market Suffers Worst Decline, Dropped 70%

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gemstone traders in Rawa Bening Market, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, have begun to lose their footings as the trend, made famous earlier this year, starts to fade. Gemstone sales now drop to 70 percent.
Gemstone trader Yudi (40) said that the sales started to drop right after Eid holiday. "We started losing visitors, unlike the booming start if the trend,” he said on Tuesday September 15.
He explained that the drop is an unsuspected, given the massive raise of demand during Eid. "Now we are having a difficult time on selling out or stocks," he said.
Moreover, the drop on gemstone sale is because Jakarta has been overloaded with stocks. "Gemstone distribution should be monitored and controlled," he said.
