TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Asrul Sani, member of House Representatives’ Commission III overseeing state-owned enterprises, emphasized the importance of the formation of the Pelindo II case inquiry committee.
“The inquiry committee was formed because the Pelindo II case is a concern of Commission III, Commission V, Commissio VI and Commission XI,” Asrul said on Saturday, September 12, in Jakarta.
Asrul called on public not to exaggerate the formation of the inquiry committee because it is a part of House’s body as stated in the Constitution. Asrul added that the formation of the inquiry committee was supported by the National Police chief in order to monitor the law enforcement conducted by the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Corps (Bareskrim).
Asrul clarified that the purpose of the inquiry team formation was not to criminalize Pelindo II director RJ Lino, but to carry out its legislation and monitoring functions.
“The inquiry committee must be free of political party interest. We hope that the governance at Indonesian ports would be better,” he added.
Another House’s Commission III member Ruhut Sitompul said that he supported the formation of the inquiry team to probe former Bareskrim director Budi Waseso’s removal. Ruhut sensed irregularities related to Budi Waseso’s removal because it was too sudden.
“There were 20 cases being investigated by Budi Waseso, but then he was removed from his position as the Kabareskrim director,” Ruhut said.
