TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian men’s single shuttler Tommy Sugiarto overpowered fellow Indonesian Ihsan Maulana Mustofa 21-10 21-5 in 34 minutes at the quarter final of 2015 Japan Open which was held at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, Tokyo, Japan on Friday.
“I don’t see Ihsan as my junior. This is a competition. I see anyone who enters the court as opponent although we come from the same country,” Tommy said after the match as reported by Indonesian Badminton Federation (PBSI)’s Media and Public Relation team on its official website.
“I have to restore my stamina because I have exhausted my energy in yesterday’s match. I am trying to restore my condition to face Lin Dan or Tian Houwe tomorrow.”
“I hope to be at my best performance. I focus on tomorrow’s (today) match because I have a tough opponent."
Now that Lin Dan comes out as the winner, Tommy has to face the five-time world Champion at semifinal today. Statistic says that the Indonesian lost two in four encounters against the Chinese. However, Tommy managed to tumble Lin Dan at their last encounter at 2015 Indonesian Open Tournament.
