TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State oil-and-gas company Pertamina has said that the company is gearing up to announce and distribute a new Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) tank in 5,5 kilogram - a move that is aimed to provide more options for its' consumers.

"We are surveying the new logo for this variant, and the shape of the tank, too. The colour could either be pinkish-orange or purple. We'll have to wait for the results of the survey before we make any decision to announce,' said the Pertamina's Marketing Director, Ahmad Bambang, on Friday, September, 2015.

The new variant is expected to hit the market in October 2015, and is aimed to attract the mid-income segment, especially apartment dwellers. "We realize the 12 kg tank is too heavy to be used in apartments without a working gas line - while the 3 kg tank is aimed for those who can't afford gas any other way," said Bambang.

The 5.5 kg tank is also expected to attract consumers who could actually afford larger tanks but has decided against buying the 12 kg tanks. "We know for a fact that there are plenty of those who are in the middle income bracket, but buys the 3 kg tank anyway," said Bambang.

"Prices and profit should be calculated at a later date - what's important is that we attract these consumers before we roll out the products," finished Bambang.
