Jokowi to Announce Economic Package on Wednesday Afternoon

    TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo is scheduled to launch economic policy packages at 4pm Western Indonesia Time  today, September 9, 2015, at the State Palace. Prior to the announcement, Jokowi will hold a meeting with Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Bank Indonesia Governor Agus Martowardojo, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution, Finance Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro and Chairman of the Financial Services Authority's Board of Commissioner Muliaman D. Hadad at 1pm.

    Previously, the president had received a report from Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution on the policy packages, which will implemented to stimulate the national economy. Darmin said that the first part of the package will be directly announced by the president himself.

    The package, which will be announced later in the afternoon, is part of four economic packages promised by the government to reduce the effects of global economic slowdown and improve investment climate in the country. The package that will be announced today will cover simplification of several regulations and stimulus in the finance and investment sector.
