TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Employers Association said that the cancellation of the Jakarta-Bandung bullet train project should not be debated since the project was impossible to be realized.
“It’s a good thing that the government dropped the project,” Shinta Sukamdani, head of foreign relationships and investments at Apindo, said in Jakarta on Saturday, September 5.
According to Shinta, the offers made by both China and Japan related to the funding and technical assistance for the project were not ideal. Shita said that the project financing from the state budget and the calculation regarding the number of stations and maximum speed were the perfect reasons for the cancellation of the project.
Shinta added that the world would understand if the government canceled the project. She believes that the cancellation of the project involving China and Japan would not affect the investment climate in Indonesia.
“It’s just one of among many projects. The government only needs to ensure that other projects would run smoothly,” she added.
