TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Jusuf Kalla said that the quality and quantity of physical infrastructure development in 2016 would better than that in this year although budget of the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry has been cut by 10 percent.
According to him, the goal could be realized if the Ministry could well implement three stages of development, namely planning, implementation, and supervision.
“I am aware that the 2016 budget will be decreased by 10 percent due to the decline in tax revenues. We have to understand that,” he said on Friday, September 4.
In reaching the targets of development with limited budgets, Kalla urged the Ministry to implement the auction proses in an orderly manner, while still prioritizing quality.
“Although the budget has been reduced, we have to ensure quality of the outputs must be maintained,” he said.
For the record, the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry targeted the absorption of infrastructure budget by 44 percent at the end of September 2015 and will continue to increase by 93 percent by the end of December 2015 from the total budget of Rp 118.6 trillion.
The ministry’s budget will be allocated for water resources, construction of roads and bridges, and development of residential areas.
Based on the report as of 3 September 2015, the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry has only absorbed 33,33 percent or worth 39.5 trillion from its total budget.
