Indonesia Targets 103 Gold Medals from ASEAN Para Games

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia is aiming to win 103 gold medals at the 8th ASEAN Para Games. The biennial event, which will be held in Singapore from December 3-9 2015, is confirmed to have 15 sports games.
"Judging from our preparations, we hope that the medal target can be met," Shenny Marbun, chairman of the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC), said in a press release received by media on Friday, Sep. 4.
All althletes are currently undergoing trainings at the national training complex at Manahan Stadium in Solo, Central Java, since the beginning of last year.
There are 190 athletes with disabilities who will take part in 12 sporting events: athletics, badminton, table tennis, weightlifting, chess, archery, seven sideball, tempin bowling, goal ball, swimming, shooting and wheelchair tennis.
A number of sports branches expected to provide gold medals for the Indonesian team are athletics, badminton, table tennis, swimming and chess.
In on the previous ASEAN Para Games in Myanmar, Indonesia came first with 99 gold medals, 69 silver and 49 bronze.
