TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Diajeng Lestari, founder of Muslim fashion e-commerce portal HijUp.com, said that the depreciation of rupiah against the US dollar has increased the company’s profit since some of her customers are foreign nationals.
“As the US dollar is appreciated, our profit has increased since 20 percent of the customers are from overseas,” Diajeng told Antara News on Saturday, August 29.
Diajeng revealed that some of her customers include Singaporeans, Malaysians, British, Americans and Europeans.
“Next year, we will boost our promotional campaign for the international market,” she added.
According to Diajeng, the depreciation of rupiah should have been a momentum for Indonesians to shift from being consumers to producers. One way to realize the vision, Diajeng added, is to support the creative industry, particularly the Muslim fashion, by creating a comprehensive ecosystem for the industry.
“Therefore, the industry would not depend on imported raw materials,” she explained.
