TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government has decided not to change the price of fuel in September to maintain national economic stability and ensure national oil supply.
“The government decided on September 1 that Premium and Diesel fuel prices will not change,” said director general for oil and gas IGN Wiratmaja on Friday, August 28.
Wiratmaja said the price of Premium outside Java, Madura and Bali will stay at Rp7,400 per liter, while subsidized Diesel fuel price and petroleum will also stay at Rp6,900 per liter and Rp2,500 per liter.
The price of Premium for Java, Madura and Bali is determined by PT Pertamina through coordination with the government and consideration of the socio-economic conditions of the society.
According to Wiratmaja, besides taking into account the international price of oil and economic stability, the unchanged price is also to reduce Pertamina’s losses. The state-owned company has been forced to sell oil under the economic price in previous periods.
He said if there is a positive difference on the prices, especially for Solar, it will be used as savings for energy resilience and infrastructure development.
