TEMPO.CO, Bogor - President Joko Widodo on Monday invited governors, police chief, attorney general’s office head and several state agencies, such as the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) and the Development Finance Comptroller (BPKP) to find a solution for budget absorption and expenditure problems.
“I need to inform that our state budget absorption has just reached 20 percent. It’s already the end of August and our capital spending is just 20 percent,” said Jokowi on Monday during the opening of Coordination Meeting in Bogor.
Jokowi asked for economic slowdown to be anticipated soon. “All must be equal and not out of line.”
Jokowi said economic growth can be increased by boosting the government’s spending through state budget, regional budget, state-owned companies and private spending. Before holding the coordination meeting, Jokowi had held a meeting with KPK, BPK and BPKP.
Rupiah’s exchange rate on Monday weakened by 122 points to Rp14,038 from Rp13,916 per US dollar.
