TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) introduces an eco-friendly car Toyota Mirai on the second day of 2015 Gaikindo International Indonesia Auto Show (GIIAS) in Serpong. Mirai uses hydrogen to fuel up its engine and is claimed to not producing exhaust gas emission.
“By using hydrogen as fuel, Toyota Mirai will promote fuel diversification and in turn reduce dependency on fossil fuel. Hydrogen will become the fuel of the future,” said Rahmat Samulo, TAM Director in Serpong, Tangerang, Banten on Friday, August 20.
Rahmat said that Mirai is first mass-produced in the United States, Europe and Japan. It has 4.89 meter length, 1.815 width and a combination of fuel cell and hybrid for a more efficient engine performance.
The car also uses only driving motor so it does not produce engine noise when it is operated. A test by Toyota Motor Corporation shows that Mirai can travel up to 700 kilometers with a full-tank hydrogen fuel.
