TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Finance, Bambang Brodjonegoro, said that consumption sector remains a major contributor for economic growth next year. Therefore, Bambang said that it is important for the government to maintain the sector’s stability. He also aimed the consumption sector to grow 5.1 percent in 2016 as the sector supports 60 percent of the total economic growth.
"The key to make us better is in investment," he said on Monday, August 17.
Bambang said that investment is categorized in two, namely public and private. For public investment, the government gas prepared a much bigger infrastructure budget for 2016, an attempt to boost investment. In private sector, Bambang expects to see more investment flows and a growth in export.
Moreover, he predicts that global economic state will be much better and stable in 2016. He expects that the United States will have improved capital interest and that the Chinese will have regained balance in Yuan through devaluation. Therefore, Bambang is optimistic upon looking at economic growth target of 5.5 percent.
