
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Supreme Court has granted the appeal from AGO on the case of budget deviation on Supersemar Foundation Scholarship. The court has sentenced the family of former President Soeharto, notably the founder of Supersemar Foundation, to pay of US$315 million and Rp139.2 billion to the state.
"The verdict was made on July 8. Therefore, the defendant will have to pay the sum of retribution," said court’s spokesman Agung Suhadi on Tuesday, August 11.
Suhadi, however, claimed that he has not been informed on why the family of the longest ruling president of Indonesia has to pay trillions for the matter. Nevertheless, he is assured that the court has has evidence of budget deviation by Supersemar Foundation.
Previously in 2010, the court has imposed former president Soeharto and Supersemar Foundation guilty of act against the law. The court then sentenced the family dynasty US$315 million.
