TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) said that Singapore’s 50th anniversary celebration is an opportunity for Indonesia to ask itself of the achievements that the nation had achieved so far.
“This is Singapore’s achievement after 50 years. We should ask: what have we done?” JK said in the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore on Sunday, Aug. 9. “Why are we behind from Singapore?”
JK thinks Singapore has advanced due to their high discipline and practices the principles of detail. “Everything is detail here and well planned,” he said.
According to JK, if Indonesia wants to be advanced as Singapore, they should plan well. “Frankly, we have much more potential than Singapore,” he said.
JK visits Singapore to celebrate the country’s 50th independence day, where he attended lunch with Singaporean President Tony Tan Keng Yam and several head of states in the Presidential Palace.
