Former Minister Supports Online Ojek Services

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - GoJek has become one of the alternatives and innovation in the creative industry in providing transportation services for the people, according to former Minister of Tourism and Creative Industry, Mari Elka Pangestu.
"GoJek is one of the creative industries in providing transportation services which uses the e-commerce," Mari said at the Faculty of Economy and Business of University of Indonesia on Saturday, August 8.
Mari also gave her support to traditional ojek (motorcycle taxi) drivers to apply online system in order to give benefits to costumers and service providers.
According to Mari, with online ojek services that GoJek providers offer, there is an improvement in providing the services.
"In principle, this kind service is good and it can be applied to other ojek drivers," she said.
Mari further said that in maintaining competitiveness and economic growth, creativity, creative ideas, and innovation are needed.
She also said that development approaches have shifted from the one based on information technology and knowledge to the one based on creativity and innovation.
"This online ojek service is already creativity and innovation based by capitalizing on the information technology,” she said.
