Solar Power Technology Could Supply PLN with Electricity

TEMPO.CO, Bandung - Indonesia has started to implement renewable energy development by encouraging public houses and offices to install rooftop solar-power systems.

Hadi Suhana, a distribution staff at the State Electricity Company (PLN) for Java and Bali, said that the rooftop solar-power system could be connected with PLN’s system to supply the company with electricity.

“The solar cell term in Indonesia is new. PLN’s new regulation will provide public with an opportunity to install solar-power system to be connected with PLN’s network,” Hadi said when inspecting solar cell installment at PT Tesa Putra Adi Guna in Bandung on Friday, August 7, 2015.

Hadi said that he saw a rapid development of the new power generating system in the future since it would be beneficial for pubic. In addition, PLN’s regulation on solar cell will soon be finalized.

“The price of the [solar] panel is getting cheaper,” he said.

PT Tesa Putra Adi Guna is the first company in Bandung to install rooftop solar-power system. Company’s coordinator of the solar-power system installment Amirah Kaca said that it was a pilot project for middle-upper class people in Bandung.

“We would like to show an example that offices and houses can have an utilize solar energy, as well as help PLN to address energy crisis,” Amirah said.
