TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo claimed that rupiah’s depreciation on dollar has caused the government to stay alert in keeping economic stability. "This concerns me," said Jokowi on Monday, August 3.
Nevertheless, Jokowi said that the situation benefits a number of exporters. "I am optimistic that rupiah’s depreciation can give profit to exporters. [They] would be glad when dollar value is rising" said Jokowi.
Speaking in South Sulawesi, Jokowi said that he is glad to see Governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo’s measures in making use of the existing potentials. Local government of South Sulawesi has endorsed export to suppress rupiah’s depreciation in the area.
On Monday in South Sulawesi, Presiden Jokowi officially set up 27 export commodities to be sent to 24 countries, with a total net of Rp1,201 trillion.
