Cops Investigate Cepu Riot; Question 20 Witnesses

TEMPO.CO, Bojonegoro - The Bojonegoro Resort Police are questioning at least 20 people in relation withSaturday's riot at Banyuurip oil worksite in Cepu. So far in the investigation, noone has been named suspect.

Police spokesman Adj. Comm. Basuki Nugroho told Tempo on Monday, August 3, that the cops are still collecting information and questioning witnesses. So far, 20 people are being questioned.

The people questioned are those who were present during and witnessed the incident.

The police are also conducting a thorough investigation; collecting data and additional information such as from the CCTVs located at the incident's location in Mojodelik Village.

"We are still waiting for developments," he said.

In association with Saturday's riot in Cepu Block, the local authorities are scheduled to hold a meeting between relevant parties at the Bojonegoro regent's house. The meeting will be mediated by the regent himself, Suyoto, and attended by representatives from the Directorate General of Oil and Gas, ExxonMobil and the Special Taskforce for Upstream Oil and Gas (SKK-Migas).
