TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State railway company PT KAI estimated to have transported 6.4 million passengers during this year's Eid 'mudik' season. The estimate is higher than what the company targeted, which was 5.9 million people.
From the passengers, KAI managed to book Rp423 billion in revenues, higher that its pegged target of Rp339 billion.
President director Edi Sukmoro said during the seven days before and seven days after the Eid, KAI transported 1.8 million passengers, not including local train passengers that reached 2.03 million people.
In this year's mudik, KAI operated 13 additional trains to make sure that everyone wishing to spend the holidays with their families in can arrive safely to their hometowns.
