Police: Most Brawl Cases Recorded in East Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, JakartaBrawl cases involving citizens, mass organization, or students in legal territory of Jakarta Metro Police are increasingly worsen from time to time. Even the police recorded around 63 cases had occurred since January 2015.

Based on the police's data, the most brawl cases detected in East Jakarta, that is 26 cases;followed by South Jakarta 13 cases; West Jakarta and Central Jakarta 8 cases; and North Jakarta 2 cases. While for the rests are detected in areas around Jakarta such as Banten, Tangerang, Depok, and Bekasi.

Chief of Bureau for Jakarta Metro Police, Sr. Comr. Martuani Sormin, stated there is shifting of brawl cases this year. Previously, the cases were first dominated by Central Jakarta, but now it shifts to East Jakarta.

"This year, a brawl usually happens in East Jakarta. There is a shifting, previously it was often in Central Jakarta," stated Sormin at City Hall, Monday (7/27).

He praised he mayor along with Central Jakarta Resort Police to minimize the brawl. "But the shifting brawl numbers is a mutual responsibility. "In East Jakarta, there problem is complex," he expressed.

He also disclosed the criminal cases in East Jakarta involve students. Such as robbery in Taman Mini consisting of 2 Junior High School students and 2 Senior High School students.

"During the interrogation, the reason is simple, they only want to have smartphone. This is our problem to educate children thus they do not fall," he asserted.
