TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro said on Monday, July 27, 2015, that economic growth in the second quarter would be better than the previous quarter.
However, Bambang said the effect of consumption rate rise during Eid al-Fitr will not yet affect this quarter. "Maybe later in the third quarter," said Bambang.
Bambang further said that inflation rate in the second quarter will be more controlled following the periodic fuel price evaluation system implemented by the goverment. The evaluation, which wil take place once every six month, is believed to reduce inflation rate. Bambang explained that inflation rate in the first semester of 2015 was under one percent. "This year's inflation prediction is four to 4.5 percent," said Bambang.
The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that economic growth in the first quarter of 2015 stands at 4.71 percent, 0.5 percent lower compared to figure recorded in the same period last year, which reached 5.21 percent.
