TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Development Planning Minister Andrinof Chaniago, admitted that more than 50 percent of government projects scheduled to begin in 2016 have not been prepared properly.
"There are projects that should have started in 2016, but its technical [aspects] are not yet ready," Andrinof said after a meeting with Vice President Jusuf Kalla at the Vice President’s office on Wednesday, July 15, 2015.
The projects, according to Andrinof, originated from several sectors including irrigation, electricity, and infrastructures.
Andrinof however, said that the issue can be resolved by adjusting the fiscal year to be in accordance with the project’s planning year.
"For the 2017 fiscal year project for example, the planning should be completed in 2016. So the preparation should be completed first," said Andrinof.
Andrinof added that Vice President Jusuf Kalla, has instructed that the development of infrastructure projects must involve local residents.
