TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo will inaugurate General Gatot Nurmantyo’s replacement on Wednesday at Presidential Palace, Jakarta.
According to the Presidential Press Bureau, the inauguration will be held at 13:00 a.m. It is still unknown who will fill the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) position.
General Gatot Nurmantyo, who was recently sworn in as the new TNI commander, previously said all three-star generals have a chance to become KSAD. Gatot submitted the names of KSAD candidates to Jokowi to be chosen.
General Moeldoko, former TNI commander, also said there are three strong candidates for KSAD; they are KSAD deputy Lt. Gen, Muhammad Munir, Kostrad commander Lt. Gen. Mulyono and secretary-general Ediwan Prabowo.
Moeldoko said Munir’s term is still left one year and two months and retirement age in the TNI is 58 years old, while Mulyono is still 54 years old, which means his retirement is still around four years more. As for Ediwan Prabowo, he will retire in four years and three months as he was born in October 1961.
