TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - Following the fire at JW Sky Lounge at Terminal 2E in Soekarno Hatta international airport on Sunday morning (5/7), at least 50 Garuda Indonesia flights, both international flights and domestic flights, have been affected.
"As of now, no Garuda Indonesian flights have departed,” said PT. Garuda Indonesian spokesperson M. Ikhsan Rosan on Sunday.
He also said that the delay of those flights have caused a build up of passengers at Terminal 2.
Ikhsan went on to say that in a day, there are 160 Garuda flights from the airport to all cities in Indonesia and a number of major cities in several countries.
Since the fire that began at 5:50 am this morning, Ikhsan said that passengers check-in system at Terminal 2E and 2F, which are exclusively used by Garuda Indonesia, have been disrupted.
"Now the check-in process at Terminal 2F is done manually and it takes a really long time,” he said, adding that check-ins for international flights have been moved to Terminal 2D.
As previously reported, JW Sky Lounge at Terminal 2E in Soekarno Hatta airport was caught fire at around 5:50 am this morning. The fire suddenly got bigger from inside the lounge and has since disrupted all activities at Terminal 2E.
