BPJS Starts Full-Scale Operations Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Workers Social Security Agency (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan) today on July 1 begins its full operation. The agency also kick-starts its pension insurance program (JP) to compliment 3 previous programs: retirement (JHT), work accident insurance (JKK) and life insurance (JKM).
The beginning of BPJS's full-scale operation was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo in Cilacap yesterday.
BPJS Ketenagakerjaan's head of communication division Abdul Cholik said 4,200 staff members are ready to work in 121 branches, 203 pioneer branches, and 8 regional offices; providing services to of participants.
Currently, he said, the agency has 17 million workers enrolled in its program. The agency is optimistic that it would have 22.3 million participants by the end of 2015.
