TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The government's plan to disburse Rp781 billion to Rp827 billion from the 2015 state budget for the Sidoarjo mud-burst victims may not compensate all of the victims who were dislocated from their homes.
There are still a number of unverified victims, meaning they might not be eligible for the damages fee. These victims unverified as rightful receivers because they were late to submit land or building certificates.
"There are quite a lot of them, until now there are dozens," Dwinanto Hesti Prasetyo, spokesman of the Sidoarjo Mud Disaster Mitigation Agency, told Tempo in Surabaya, Wednesday, June 24.
The presidential rule to compensate the victims using funds derived from the 2015 state budget is awaiting the agreement between the government and PT Minarak Lapindo Jaya. Once a deal is made, the disbursement will have a legal bases thereby it can be done immediately.
Earlier, the government said the deadline to start the process is on June 26, 2015.
