TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Government plans to build a garment factory or a recycling plant dedicated to people with hearing disabilities.
Minister of Social Affairs Khofifah Indar Parawansa said that President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo is committed to help creating new job opportunities for people with hearing problems in Indonesia.
President Jokowi expressed his commitment during a meeting with the Central Board of the Advocacy for People with Hearing Disabilities, also known as the Pospera, at the Presidential Palace.
"[The plan] is a pilot project. If it shows good progress in the next one or two years, then these factories will be developed in other regions, specifically Indonesia's eastern regions." Khofifah said on Tuesday, June 23, 2015.
To achieve the plan, the government will cooperate with a United Kingdom-based management team that had worked in similar programs in seven different countries.
